Description:
Cortec® VpCI®-609 is a water soluble Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor Powder for wet or dry corrosion protection of ferrous metals and aluminum. It creates an inhibiting layer on metal surfaces that provides up to 24 months rust prevention. Protects in liquid, vapor phase and in the interface (above the liquid level), reaching inaccesible or recessed surfaces. The protective layer self replenishes by continuous vapor redeposition. It does not contain nitrites, phosphates or heavy metals. It is 100% biodegradable in marine environment.
Packaging:
Available in 5 pound (2.3 kg) pails and 50 pound (23 kg) fiber-lined drums. Store indoors and out of direct sunlight at 40-100ºF. Contact Us to get a quote for this product in 100 pound (45 kg) drums.
How to Use:
Apply Cortec® VpCI®-609 in dry form by dusting, fogging or sprinkling. Apply VpCI®-609 in aqueous form by spray, flush or immersion. After application cover and close or seal the interior cavity or void. Fog using a low pressure air hose and sandblast cup. Large conventional sandblasting systems can also be used. The product can be easily removed using a low pressure air gun or by a water rinse. Typically, if applied in aqueous form, it does not require removal. Do not use on copper, copper-based alloys and other soft yellow metals.
Dosage:
For powder application with average environmental conditions, use 0.3-0.5 ounce (8.5-14 grams) of VpCI®-609 per 1 cubic foot (28 L) of enclosed space (300-500 g/m3). Dosage can be increased for more severe conditions.
Typical Applications:
VpCI®-609 protects carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and other ferrous metals. Do not use on copper, copper-based alloys and other soft yellow metals.
VpCI®-609 can be used to protect tubular structures, pipes, vessels, voids, cavities, tanks. For internal surfaces of compressors, turbines, engines, tanks, boilers, heat exchangers. Ideal for steam condensate lines, closed circuit heating and cooling systems. It can also be used to protect equipment during and after hydrostatic testing, and as an additive to shot-blasting media, wet blasting and standing water.
